Here at Dakine Exotic Cats what we feed our cats is serious. What you feed can affect the health and longevity of your cat. Our Maine Coon cats and Highlander Lynx cats Have nutritional requirements and this is my choice I research nutrition and the geneticist whom I purchased my foundation Maine Coons from also fed this. I am a huge supporter of the Purina Pro plan. Having raised dogs for 30 years with little to no health issues ever and my studies on nutrition being and Expert Speaker on dogs and a Vet Technician I firmly believe in Purina and the Pro Plan and Purina One line. Best for your money and the health of your exotic cats.
We are excited that all of our Maine Coons have tested for all genetic mutations including the dreaded HCM and PKD! I only have one who is just a Carrier all others are DNA Clear for all mutations the carrier is one of my females so a nonissue for my male is a Clear, for this mutation meaning he cannot produce an affected with any cat for he doesn't have even one copy of any mutations HCM is a death sentence both Sire and dams of our Maine Coons have had full DNA Genetic testing~ This breed is overall healthy but these are the big ones that many Maine Coons perish from at a young age.

We strictly feed Purina Pro plan - Purina One formulas for we travel so much but I do approve a raw diet if fully investigated and meets your cat's needs~ The above formula is what we feed. Kitten for up to a year then we feed the Urinary Tract formula for urinary health all cats can be prone to Urinary issues I don't even want to go there and never have for we feed this formula. I will mix it up and mix in the sensitive stomach and the complete formula to mix it up for my cats. I feed very little wet cat food to my cats but do now and then. when selecting a food for my cats I consulted a geneticist who is a close friend of mine and a fellow cat breeder she also feeds Purina Pro plan you have to weed through the hype of all the different cat foods on the market and learn about nutrition. Many cats get health issues from being fed improper foods. I also feed daily wet Urinary tract formula to my cats this is great for adding moisture to their diet for many cats doe not drink enough water. I always top dress my cat's dry food with forit flor probiotics it is the best and also helps them to eat more. Digestion is huge for health and probiotics are necessary in my opinion for gut health.
